April 2011
I know my happiness/self-worth shouldn’t hinge on whether or not people want me in their lives
But it does

The Age Of Adz - I Walked
I wasn’t aware of this album until last night. Sufjan makes a successful shift towards a binary-orchestra.
I think at my worst I was taking Advair everyday, but that was when there was a GIANT GIGAWILDFIRE around the end of 2003, I think. I hope you get yours back under control, though!
And I am certainly not taking the AP test. No.
-Analysis essay in 40 minutes? No.
-Synthesis essay in 40 minutes? No.
-Argumentative essay in 40 minutes? Maybe.
I’m not sure why I thought I was actually good enough at something to attempt the AP route, but that was clearly a very bad decision.
And, like the dolt that I am, I signed up for AP Lit, AP European History (which is only going to piss me the fuck off. ALL history is told from a Eurocentric view anyway), and AP Spanish next year. And it’s too late to change my schedule. Awesome.
It’s really funny.
It goes like, I can’t afford 50 dollars a month on birth control, so I go to planned parenthood and pay closer to 20 dollars for 3 months worth, and don’t have children.
They also take care of most of my general healthcare needs because going to the doctor without health insurance is really expensive.
They base all their bills on my income so that I am able to afford everything.
Oh, yeah, they also make sure I do not have lady cancer and do pap smears for me, and assure me that I do not have breast cancer, which runs in my family.
So yeah, it’s a hilarious story about how the defunding of planned parenthood would pretty much ruin my life.
And my planned parenthood doesn’t even do any abortion related things.
Funny.
I don’t go to Planned Parenthood. As a PWD, I receive Medicaid, so I have a lot of physician options—and I’m also the GOP’s wet dream! An unemployed, sexually active woman with an invisible disability! Man, I’m just rolling in your tax dollars with my $700 a month.
But anyway, you know what’s funny? I’ve been taking birth control since I was 14 for a medical condition. I’ve been lucky enough to afford it the entire time. Others aren’t so privileged.
Let’s be crystal clear here: the anti-choicers do not care about women’s health. They are willfully ignorant of the ways birth control, emergency contraception, and abortions work. They do not want women to have access to accurate information about their bodies and their reproductive rights.
And they will not stop unless we get out there and tell them to STFU.

Here’s something I really get annoyed with. You are psychopathic and mentally ill if as a child you beat torture and kill animals and are on your way to being a serial killer but if you do it as a job as an adult it’s called food.
now that. that is an interesting thought.
I’m wary about reblogging this, but I’ve actually thought about this quite a bit. How there’s a connection made between abusing animals as a child and becoming a serial killer, but working in or supporting an industry that abuses millions of animals has become so normalized that it’s considered by most to be of neutral morality, or at least ignorable. I’m in NO WAY trying to compare all meat industry workers (who often don’t really have a choice of where they work, and not to ignore how shitty the industry treats its workers anyway) or meat eaters (because while the morality is questionable to me, I can’t blame people for partaking in something that’s a normal part of their culture or viewed as necessity). It’s just really strange to me how the normalization of things like this can separate us so much from the truth of what actually happens.
But yeah, while I see what the OP was getting at, we don’t need to be comparing meat industry workers with serial killers. That’s fucked up. I’m not going to pretend to be an expert at this, but from what I know, generally the people doing the actual slaughtering are treated pretty inhumanely by their ‘superiors’ themselves, what with unsanitary and unsafe working conditions and whatnot. We need to instead be criticizing the system that leaves workers no choice but to take jobs like this, the industry itself that treats these workers like absolute shit instead of people, that treats animals like products instead of animals, the industry that makes us sick just so it can make a bigger profit, and the greater system that uses advertisement to create a lie that we need to eat meat for every fucking meal (which, economics/affordability aside, we DON’T; it is not necessary for our health) so that we feel compelled to support the system that will completely disregard ethics and our health just for the sake of making a fucking profit.
So yeah, I do question where this disconnect comes from; that one kid abusing one animal makes people think they’ll become a serial murderer, but an entire industry that abuses millions of animals (AND people) is somehow normal, amoral to most people. But to place the blame on individual factory workers, and not the big heads of the corporations that allow this bullshit to continue, but I mean the ones that are ALSO treated like shit, who most likely work in the meat industry because they had no other options, that’s fucked up, because they’re getting fucked over by that industry, too.
